How do we record your data?
We collect your data as a result of your sharing of your data with us. This may, for instance be information you enter into our contact form. Our IT systems automatically record other data when you visit our website. This data comprises primarily technical information (e.g. web browser, operating system or time the site was accessed). This information is recorded automatically when you access our website.

What are the purposes we use your data for?
A portion of the information is generated to guarantee the error free provision of the website (e.g. user administration). Other data may be used to analyze your user patterns in order to optimize the user-friendliness of our websites.

Analysis tools and tools provided by third parties
There is a possibility that your browsing patterns will be statistically analysed when your visit our website. Data protection
Your privacy and the protection of your research - and metadata are important to us - we respect and protect your privacy and handle your data confidentially, taking into account the applicable legal provisions and this Privacy Policy.
The term “personal data” comprises all data that can be used to personally identify you (e. g. name, institutional affiliation, postal and email address). The processing of your personal data includes the data capturing, storing, use and further processing. Your research- and metadata you submit will be collected and stored by the BonaRes Data Centre in accordance with the rules in the BonaRes Data Guideline (see BonaRes Portal: Research Data/Data Guide).
By your use of the Sustainability.zalf.de- Websites you agree with the processing of your personal, research and metadata in the context of this privacy policy. The uses of the 'Sustainability' - Web pages are generally possible without providing any personal information. Some of the personal data requested for registration in the internal Portal (e.g. name, organization or email address) are optional. No user data will be disclosed to third parties without an explicit agreement of the user (Art.6 Abs.1 lit. A DSGVO).
We want to explicitly point out that data transfer on the internet (e. g. during download or in email communication) may have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is therefore not possible and is not guaranteed.
We hereby expressly prohibit the use of the contact data published as part of our duty to publish an imprint for the purpose of sending any advertising or informational material that was not expressly requested. The service provider of the BonaRes Web-Portal reserves the right to take legal action in case of unsolicited sending of advertising and information material, for instance by spam emails.

Revocation of your consent to the processing of data
A wide range of data processing transactions are possible only subject to your express consent. You can also revoke at any time any consent you have already given us. To do so, all you are required to do is sent us an informal notification via e-mail. This shall be without prejudice to the lawfulness of any data collection that occurred prior to your revocation. The research and metadata you have posted will remain available even after the end of the BonaRes project period.

Right to log a complaint with the competent supervisory agency

Furthermore, you have the right to file complaints with regulatory authorities. If there has been a breach of data protection legislation, the person affected may file a complaint with the competent regulatory authorities. The competent regulatory authority for matters related to data protection legislation is the data protection officer of Brandenburg (Germany), the state in which the ZALF is headquartered. Right to data portability
You have the right to demand that we hand over any data we automatically process on the basis of your consent or in order to fulfil a contract be handed over to you or a third party in a commonly used, machine readable format. If you should demand the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will be done only if it is technically feasible.

SSL and/or TLS encryption
For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as purchase orders or inquiries you submit to us as the website operator, this website uses either an SSL or a TLS encryption program. Server log files
The provider of this website and its pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser communicates to us automatically. The information comprises:

This data is not merged with other data sources.
This data is recorded on the basis of Art. 6 Sect. 1 lit. f GDPR. The operator of the website has a legitimate interest in the technically error free depiction and the optimization of the operator’s website. In order to achieve this, server log files must be recorded.

In some instances, our website and its pages (https://www.sustainability.zalf.de) use so-called cookies. Cookies do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain viruses. Google

We use various services from "Google". Google is a group of several companies. We will inform you which company is specifically responsible for the service used and the associated data processing in the respective service description. Unless otherwise stated below, Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland is responsible for data processing.

By visiting our website, Google receives the information that you have accessed the corresponding sub-page of our website. Unless otherwise described below, at least the data mentioned in section 3 will be transmitted to Google. This occurs regardless of whether Google provides a user account through which you are logged in or whether no user account exists. If you are logged in to Google, your data will be directly assigned to your account. If you do not want the assignment with your profile at Google, you must log out before activating the button. Google stores your data as usage profiles and may use them for purposes of advertising, market research and/or demand-oriented design of its services. We have no influence on the further data processing by Google, beyond the stated purposes. The information provided therefore only represents our current state of knowledge.

Matomo
Our website uses Matomo (formerly Piwik), an open source software from InnoCraft Ltd, 150 Willis St, 6011 Wellington, New Zealand, for statistical evaluation of visitor access.

YouTube

This website uses plug-ins of the YouTube platform, which is operated by Google. The website operator is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.
If you visit a page on our website into which a YouTube plug-in has been integrated, a connection with YouTube’s servers will be established. As a result, the YouTube server will be notified, which of our pages you have visited.
Furthermore, YouTube will be able to place various cookies on your device. With the assistance of these cookies, YouTube will be able to obtain information about our website visitor. Among other things, this information will be used to generate video statistics with the aim of improving the user friendliness of the site and to prevent attempts to commit fraud.
